I had to do a little blog on this gorgeous antique encaustic tile that arrived a few weeks ago.I have called it Alhambra as I see it belonging in a setting that is grand and inspiring as is La Alhambra in Spain. As soon as I lay my eyes on this lovely design,I thought of the spaces that could be created and charmed by its history, colour and pattern .Firstly,I imagined how amazing it would look as a feature wall in a Mediterranean style restaurant, then I saw it as a floor in a Spanish style bar with antique chandeliers and rickety wooden tables and chairs (full of charm),then I pictured it in the entranceway to a home influenced by Greek architecture and then i saw it as a magnificent bathroom floor in a grand home in the countryside….my imagination went wild.A tile like this can transform a space and give it that grand and unique look ,not quite like La Alhambra, perhaps just a taste of it.

I am inspired yet again by the stunning antique encaustic tiles that arrived on my doorstep this morning .Salvaged from an old home in the European countryside are these retro looking tiles with the most stunning blue square in the centre which would enhance any wall, floor, bar, bbq area, fireplace, tabletop or splashback.Just let your imagination run wild as they would look great in many applications.I also received some other new gorgeous designs which are now on my gallery page. They are in excellent condition and ready to lay and enjoy.

I hope you all had a beautiful break and have started the year with new aspirations.A new year always seems like the right time to start a new project or be inspired to do something that you really wanted to do last year but did not have the time to do.I am personally very excited to embrace 2011 and fulfil my goals for this year.I hope you all fulfil your too.I wanted to start the year by showing you 2 bathrooms that have recently been completed in a gorgeous old queenslander right next door. The encaustic tiles work so well in this restored 1920s home.Moorish Night and Grey and White reproduction tiles have been used on the floors.I just viewed them and felt so inspired and joyous.I hope you like them too.Have a beautiful year.
