Thanks to Real Living Magazine September 2011 issue. There is a great feature on outdoor ideas including images of an amazing courtyard tiled with a montage of encaustic tiles. I love the busy floor which creates warmth, impact and an explosion of colour in contrast to the serene backdrop of the natural environment. Both have a life of their own. The happy space created is perfect for entertaining and oozes with energy and joy. For those who are after an injection of colour, the montage look always works well   Thanks also for featuring 2 of my designs on your Bright and Bold ideas page .

Just received these amazing antique encaustic tiles from the Middle East. I feel like I have received jewels from the Nile. They are in excellent condition and ready to lay. They have such an exotic feel and will become a feature wherever they find themselves. As with all the antique encaustic tiles ,they come with their slight imperfections from age which just enhances their character.

A lovely, and very creative lady who is still in the middle of her kitchen upgrade has sent me some images of how they used the antique encaustic tile design Floral Diamond. They felt that their kitchen island with a concrete bench top needed some softening and colour, they chose the Floral Diamond design as the grey toned in well with the concrete. I love how the tiles have completely transformed the kitchen island and given it the life it needed. It has made the island a piece with its own uniqueness and soul. The antique tiles work so well here as they wanted an older style tile that had imperfections to work with the imperfections of the surface of the island. Such a simple and effective way to bring some colour into a kitchen.

I have been fortunate enough to attend a few of Shannon Fricke's workshops. Each different, informative ,and so much fun. The lovely women that come together for the day from all paths that leave so inspired by Shannon's knowledge and knowing would all agree it is a day of challenge and creativity . The last workshop I attended was Interior Styling. We were given access to a treasure cove of soft furnishings, ceramics, lanterns, bottles, dolls, colour swatches and more….. we then had to find a space and create a viniette. Naturally, I was drawn to the tiles and put together a couple of very simple  scenes. I love the tiles lying loosely on the pebbles  just adding a little colour to the garden area and then the tiles on the wooden deck which could work beautifully as a display on a table -garden lunch or not. The lovely ceramic bowls are part of Shannons range -so delicate and beautiful. Thanks Shannon for your generosity of spirit in sharing your knowledge.
