I recently received images of this completed bathroom in Perth. Jade chose the stunning Grey Indian Earth encaustic tile to be the feature tile for her new bathroom in her old workers cottage in WA. Grey Indian Earth is an elegant and timeless design that would give elegance to any floor and being so neutral is easily matched with any colour scheme.I must admit, this tile is definitely one of my favourites and is a design that suits many older style homes and in a different colour way would also fit nicely into a more modern scheme. As the design is not too large or small it balances well equally in large or small settings.

There is a fabulous new eatery/cafe on the block. Alexandria is an up and coming suburb in Sydney full of amazing old warehouses waiting to be reincarnated and converted into a new glory. The Grounds has just opened and has done just that. Caroline Choker from the Artistry and her team have created a feat from an old run down warehouse (an old pie factory) and transformed the space into a stylish, funky, industrial, homely and alive eatery. The food is amazing, the bread baked on site, the coffee roasted in front of your eyes in large vats visible through glass walls ,the vegetables grown in the outdoor courtyard and there is even a great playground area for the kids. It could not be better. The atmosphere is electric. I am so thrilled that my Cuban style reproduction tiles were chosen to be used in the quaint area which has the feeling you are sitting in an old building in Havana. The tiles work incredibly with the fit out and have added another dimension and another point of interest to this truly incredible new arrival. I really love how even a small area of encaustic tiles in a large space can make such difference. It is so inspiring.

Thanks to those who I have borrowed images from.

Matt woods recently put together this stunning bathroom that was published in the Home insert of the Daily Telegraph. The look is striking and eclectic. The combination of the small mosaic tiles and the Blue Clover tiles worked so nicely .The encaustic Blue Clover tiles have become the feature and have brought a lightness and an exotic touch to the bathroom that gives you the feeling that you are showering in some far away luxurious hotel in the Mediterranean. It is warm and inviting and totally unique. Have a look at Matt Woods website www.killingmattwoods.com to check out all his other amazing and innovative projects and thanks to Chris Corboy for the lovely images you captured.

I had so much fun last weekend putting together some lovely combinations to lay on my showroom floor. The montage is a great way to create a WOW effect and is the perfect way to jazz up a space without having to touch anything else-the floor or wall becomes the focus and all else can be left untouched. It gives you creative power when choosing which combinations would work well together and really, the possibilities are endless. The reproduction encaustic tiles used are all part of my range and are a great way to change the mood of a space depending on the design and colour you choose. There are more designs arriving very soon -I will need another showroom!

The new Quiksilver outlet opened last week in Byron Bay and it looks so good! The designer has created a patchwork effect on the floor using 2 designs and some plain tiles in-between. The overlook look is soft yet interesting and being opposite Byron Bay's main beach the blues and the greys are the perfect choice. The shop also has wooden floors that meet the tiles which always works so well and gives a distinction to different areas of the room. I think the effect has worked really nicely and it is another example of the different ways in which encaustic tiles can be laid. The Moroccan Flower design and the Blue and white circle compliment each other and the clothes on the racks! Next time you are in Byron Bay make sure you go in to have a look .

Amanda from Peace by Piece Gallery has just completed the refurbishment of her rustic but oh so glamourous shed which looks absolutely fabulous. It is oozing with character and charm and just makes you want to drop everything and spend the weekend in this little hideaway tucked up in the hinterland of Byron Bay. The bathroom with its antique pressed metal walls and ceiling compliment the grey and white tiles so well. Amanda knew exactly the look she wanted to create and it worked perfectly. The view from the bath is breath taking and the encaustic tiles she chose have given another dimension to this gorgeous bathroom and were the perfect choice.

I absolutely love the way Real Living magazine created this lovely scheme using the Moroccan Flower tile and creating a casual yet exotic look that compliments the feel of the tile. This moroccan inspired design is one of my favourites and can be used to jazz up any space needing some colour and life. With this design being so wow you don't need to do much more than just adding some simple furnishings and you could be sitting in a tea house in Marakesh or a beach resort in the south of Spain-that would be nice!

The Buffalo Dining Club recently opened its doors and already has had many raving reviews. The relaxed bar/restaurant located at 116 Surrey St, Darlinghurst has a comprehensive wine list and an excellent menu. The decor is simple and stylish with the feature being the facade of the bar where the designers wanted to create some contrast and bring some colour into the space.I love the montage of tiles used here, 4-5 designs that work so well together. It is definitely worth a visit for lunch or dinner a glass of wine and to try one of the specialities of the house.

Thanks to Inside Out magazine for featuring the Retro Blue antique encaustic tile and the Red and White reproduction encaustic tile in this months Kitchen and Bathroom supplement. The tiles featured would look stunning in an area where colour is needed to liven things up! Red, being strong always comes in handy when you are looking to create some impact and some wow. The antique tiles featured have been salvaged from an old home in Spain and are in excellent condition-for an amazing effect, they could even be used in the same area as they actually compliment each other so well. The supplement is included in the March/April 2012 issue of Inside Out and is definitely worth having a look at for some inspiration.

I was recently passed on this image from a client who was looking for the perfect green for her own home renovation. Well,I think she found it. What a stunning green-green is one of those colours you need to get exactly right or it can be terribly wrong. Too bright is hard to live with and too dark becomes heavy . In this elegant space the green in my opinion is just right. The cubic encaustic tiles look stunning and the grey/black and white tones work so well against the green wall and the white wall in the background. The cubic tile design also harmonises so well with the mix of styles in this home. This design can be laid in 3 different ways to create 3 totally different patterns. Despite being tricky on the eyes it creates an interest and holds an elegance in its uniformity. Whether it is on a floor or wall this tile will always create the impact it deserves.
