The Grounds at Alexandria

There is a fabulous new eatery/cafe on the block. Alexandria is an up and coming suburb in Sydney full of amazing old warehouses waiting to be reincarnated and converted into a new glory. The Grounds has just opened and has done just that. Caroline Choker from the Artistry and her team have created a feat from an old run down warehouse (an old pie factory) and transformed the space into a stylish, funky, industrial, homely and alive eatery. The food is amazing, the bread baked on site, the coffee roasted in front of your eyes in large vats visible through glass walls ,the vegetables grown in the outdoor courtyard and there is even a great playground area for the kids. It could not be better. The atmosphere is electric. I am so thrilled that my Cuban style reproduction tiles were chosen to be used in the quaint area which has the feeling you are sitting in an old building in Havana. The tiles work incredibly with the fit out and have added another dimension and another point of interest to this truly incredible new arrival. I really love how even a small area of encaustic tiles in a large space can make such difference. It is so inspiring. Thanks to those who I have borrowed images...

Showroom Montage

I had so much fun last weekend putting together some lovely combinations to lay on my showroom floor. The montage is a great way to create a WOW effect and is the perfect way to jazz up a space without having to touch anything else-the floor or wall becomes the focus and all else can be left untouched. It gives you creative power when choosing which combinations would work well together and really, the possibilities are endless. The reproduction encaustic tiles used are all part of my range and are a great way to change the mood of  a space depending on the design and colour you choose. There are more designs arriving very soon -I will need another showroom!...
