Country Elegance

I had the pleasure last night of visiting a home that has recently been refurbished in the hinterland of the North Coast. The home is finely decorated with an air of elegance that almost brought me to tears.The owner has an incredible knack for renovating and decorating houses and this is yet another example of her beautiful work. The Grey Indian Earth cement tiles used in the dressing room and  main bathroom look so elegant as do the Spanish Flower design in the ensuite. The tiles so suit the country home and blend so well with the environment. At one point I was watching the cows pass by the window,it all felt so romantic. I really feel the use of the encaustic tiles in this elegant country home has made these spaces.The tiles have created warmth and interest without overtaking from all the other features in the house.  ...

Checker boards

A combination of different colour plain tiles or a pattern tile with a plain tile creates a totally different effect and is yet another way of using the cement tiles in a creative way. The combinations are endless as are the possibilities of creating different looks for different spaces. Using a checker board look with plain colours does not necessarily mean they need to be laid in a uniform manner.They can be laid randomly for a slightly edgier look if that is what you are trying to achieve. Using a plain tile to break up a pattern tile is another way to create a feature wall or floor where you just want the pattern tiles to be a highlight. Coco Cubano Beautiful Tiles

Coco Cubano has recently reopened their doors in Crows Nest with a fabulous new look and feel. It is vibrant, happening and so atmospheric.The combination of patterned tiles they used on the floor and the facade of the building creates the feeling that you have stepped into a great little bar in Havana. I love the use of the encaustic tiles which instantly creates warmth and vibrancy.Together with the eclectic mix of furnishings and the creative use of design, it is inviting,comfortable……..and oh so Cuban. Boh and Andrew Clancy who put the concept together and chose the combination of Moroccan Flower,Black Star and Black Mustard Clover tiles had a great vision which came together...
