Thanks to Australian House and Garden who featured the Spanish Villa reproduction tile in their March 2013 issue. They are featured on page 47 along with some gorgeous hand towels. The Spanish Villa has just arrived in a black and white and is a classic design that would suit any bathroom or kitchen floor. It is also available in a light blue and a midnight blue. Jatana Interiors also has some stunning new designs that just arrived yesterday. The Teal Delight ,Indian Sunset and Indian Dusk are all new creations and would suit any style of home from ultra modern to old and classic. Thanks again to House and Garden.
Brooke Aitken has completed a stunning job on four bathrooms in the one home, each with a different feel making them all unique and individual .The Grey Moroccan Bazaar is so elegant and works so beautifully with the marble, the tiles being the feature however not overpowering the space. The Black with White Circle used in the second bathroom has a more contemporary feel and looks stunning with the white subway tiles used on the walls and the finishes in the bathroom. The Blue and Grey Clover and the Moroccan Flower designs used in the other two bathrooms are vibrant and luring. I love the look of extending the patterned tiles up the wall which has created even warmth and more interest, once again without being overbearing. Brooke from Brooke Aitken Design had a great vision which has proven to work beautifully.
Black and White is timeless, elegant and works with classic or contemporary style interiors. Easy to accessorise and with a definite contrast that is always striking to the eye. Black and white works beautifully alone or with dashes of colour and of course with all shades of grey. I love the look of the black and white encaustic tiles surrounded by polished concrete or a beautifully dark stained timber floor. I have recently received a gorgeous antique cubic style tile and a terrazzo hex style tile ,both so strong and both create an amazing impact. You can never go wrong with black and white.
Interior Designer Karen Bell is a woman with a wonderful sense of style as can be seen in the 4 bathrooms she has recently completed. Each bathroom with its own personality created by the use of the different tile designs carefully chosen and put together with the appropriate finishes. Moorish Night,Grey Indian Earth,Grey and White circle and Grey Moroccan Bazaar from Jatana Interiors are the four designs that Karen chose. These cement tiles always make the space a piece of art and bring the bathrooms alive.
There is a new cafe recently opened in Brunswick Heads that has given the town a burst of new energy. A young couple from Melbourne experienced in the world of cafes have brought a touch of the downtown to the North Coast. The food is excellent and creative as is the fresh decor and craftsmanship of the interiors all put together by the owners. The site is the original butcher shop of Brunswick and they have kept the old world feel by preserving the old tiles in the bathroom and the facade which compliment the choice of tiles from the Jatana range particularly the Rustic manor tiles on the back wall. The counter is eye catching and welcoming and they have kept the seaside feel with choice of colours and feel.Footbridge is definitely worth a visit next time you are in Brunswick Heads.
I have just received these images of 3 recently finished areas, all amazing and transformed by the use of the cement encaustic tiles. The tiles on the bathroom floors have given these bathrooms 2 completely different looks. They are the feature however have not taken over the other features in the bathroom, only enhanced them. The beautiful design on the kitchen splash back has created warmth and beauty. All 3 spaces are inviting and the encaustic tiles work so well in doing this. They draw you in and though very patterned are very calming. The Red Exotic Floral,Florentine and French manor are all lovely designs that can also be made in other colour ways to create yet another mood.
I just love when a new shipment of antique tiles arrives on my doorstep. The latest treasures have just arrived and I am overwhelmed with their beauty. Each design so different in colour and design creating four completely different moods. The tiles are in excellent condition considering their age and the fact they have been salvaged from beautiful old homes in the Mediterranean. I so wish I had another area in my own home, whether it is an ensuite,an entranceway or even just a small landing where I could place these stunning antiques tiles. They really are beautiful.
I had the pleasure last night of visiting a home that has recently been refurbished in the hinterland of the North Coast. The home is finely decorated with an air of elegance that almost brought me to tears. The owner has an incredible knack for renovating and decorating houses and this is yet another example of her beautiful work. The Grey Indian Earth cement tiles used in the dressing room and main bathroom look so elegant as do the Spanish Flower design in the ensuite. The tiles so suit the country home and blend so well with the environment. At one point I was watching the cows pass by the window,it all felt so romantic. I really feel the use of the encaustic tiles in this elegant country home has made these spaces. The tiles have created warmth and interest without overtaking from all the other features in the house.
